Savannah and I played volleyball together in 7th grade. We went to middle school together for a couple of years before she moved to Texas. Savannah was, and still is, the person everyone wanted to be friends with because she was just lovely to be around. She's kind to everyone and her smile is infectious. Savannah and her mom are Facebook friends with me, so I've gotten to see Savannah's world travels via social media. A couple weeks before Christmas Savannah's mom, Mrs. Holly, sent me a message asking if I'd be in town for Christmas. Savannah is currently a missionary based in Hawaii, but the whole family had plans to spend Christmas with Mrs. Holly's parents in White Bluff. Savannah was under the impression Jackson would be with his family in Texas for Christmas. She was wrong! ;) Jackson flew from Texas to Tennessee and landed 8 hours before Savannah's flight landed. Jackson and I met up on Christmas eve to plan his perfect proposal at Savannah's grandparents' farm. Jackson is so sweet, and he wanted everything to be perfect for Savannah. There was a 100% chance of rain scheduled for Christmas morning, so we had multiple rain back-up plans. I assured him that even when it rains all day, the rain seems to stop when it needs to. Later in the evening, when Savannah and her family had made it to Tennessee, Jackson left and stayed in a guest house. On Christmas day morning, there was thunder and heavy rain, and I prayed over and over for the rain to let up. Jackson and I met at her grandparents' house, and he began to set up the rose petals and get ready. By this point, our thunderstorms had turned to barely a mist. We were so thankful! Savannah's grandmother had requested that all the family be dressed for a Christmas picture by 9 a.m. Jackson, hidden from view in the house, stood outside the barn. Savannah was told there was a surprise gift for her in the barn. She walked out to a rose petal trail leading her to Jackson. He got down on one knee, she said yes, and the rest is history! Utter surprise! Savannah had been kept completely in the dark making it all the more exciting! After the proposal and family time, we took a few "engagement announcement" shots. We had to have a fun one to show off the ring! I'm so glad I got to work with these sweet souls. It was s0 fun to be in on the surprise and watch it all take place! It was a different kind of Christmas morning, but it was fantastic.
